Listowel Equestrian Centre Ltd was set up in May 2006 and is an AIRE approved riding school. Currently within rented accomodation in the beautiful heritage town of Listowel Co. Kerry.
The Facility at the moment offers the only 30x60 in-door arena in North Kerry.
We currently have six ponies suitable for RDAI work, along with twelve ponies/horses used for riding lesson.
We operate an inclusion policy keeping lessons to an affordable price for all and helping with specially challenged children wherever possible through our links with the RDAI.
The facility currently dedicates over 50% of time, manpower and horses on a charitable basis to special needs schools. we are always looking for adult volunteers willing to get involved in any way possible from fencing to cleaning stables in the winter to leading horses or walking at the side assisting.
We believe that the horse is a unique beautiful creature that can aid in equine therapy in many ways, bringing people together. Helping with emotional stress, physical challenges, speech, confidence and much more.
We are very happy to announce a new link with the organisation "HEALS" "Horse Energy Alleviates Living Scars" with our newest member of the team Inis Hasenfuss who holds qualifications in "Equine Assisted Therapy" and "Equine Assisted Learning" Heals are currently campaigning for the establishment of Equine Assisted Therapy Centres all over Ireland. The Listowel Equestrian Centre currently holds a short lease on a very run down premises within Listowel, there is a huge proven need for a purpose built modern premises within Listowel to cater for the needs of the community but without community support a correctly built premises with good road access and modern outdoor areas of use remains something to strive for.
We are always open to suggested programs to aid various groups/schools with the individual challenges their attendants have using our horses as an aid, opening the doorway to a different aproach to education/wellbeing and will happily work with any department wishing to initiate a program of benifit.
We operate by request work experience to various organisations with candidates accompanied by a helper. One day a week.
